Prepared for the long ride

Marc Jarkow of Lady Lake, a long distance cyclist known as a randonneur, mends a flat tire during a downpour on the State Road 44 bridge over the Withlacoochee River Tuesday afternoon. To stay in shape for randonneuring events that can cover up to 750 miles, Jarkow regularly takes 100 mile day rides in the area. He carries several spare tires and tools with him, as well as gear for inclement weather. Tuesday's storm, he said, did not bother him at all.
