Trying different things

At ADP last week I met a guy from Western Kentucky University named Allen Bryant. He took the the streets of Clarksdale, MS with a 50mm/1.4 and did some pretty interesting shooting that stretched my brain. It's not that his style is completely new to me, but working side-by-side with a guy who shoots like this made it more real. There's this Magnum Photographer, Constantine Manos, who occasionally shoots in this style, like in his book American Color.
Anyway, I've been attempting to step far back and shoot with a medium lens at a very shallow depth of field, just to look and see what happens. Here are a couple of (rather lame) examples...
