Universal Body Language

One is a young Polish man, drunk, and frantically rubbing grass on his face after play-fighting a friend using a type of stinging nettle as a weapon. The other is a young Indian groom, adjusting his headdress as his wedding party approaches the village where his future wife awaits.

Is it the photographer who sees the similarities, or are they just inherent in people around the world? I sometimes think about the grey area in photography between documenting and creating. There's no denying these two guys are both displaying similar body language, but it was my split second decision to capture these moments from a particular angle that bring their similarities into relief. Thousands of miles away, completely different cultures and context, and yet there is something universally human that transcends.
